2025 Training Schedule
NABat volunteers will participate in a 3-part training this year. To register for training, first make sure you have a profile in our Wildlife Community Science volunteer system. Once registered, you will be able to sign-up for online trainings through this profile.
Part 1: NABat Orientation – (Optional for returning participants)
This is an online, self-guided training module (asynchronous training). We will review the basic structure and background of the program. This training should be completed prior to attending Part 2.
To complete Part 1: NABat Orientation, review the slides or watch the narrated version below. After reviewing, complete the Orientation Attendance Form below.
- Orientation Slides Only (bonus slides included)
- Orientation with Narration (2024 version, 2025 to come but only with minor revisions. Take a look at the slides above for the differences until it’s updated.)
- Orientation Attendance Form 2025
Part 2: NABat Protocols and Equipment Set-up – (all volunteers should attend one of the two sessions)
This is an online, self-guided training module (asynchronous training). We will go over NABat data collection protocols in depth and demonstrate setting up and operating the equipment. You should complete training by May 10th.
- Online Pt 2 Training Module (plan to take 50 mins to 1.25 hours)
Part 3: NABat Hands-On Equipment Practice
All participants, new and returning, should touch base with their Regional Coordinator or the Project Coordinator to go over the equipment in your box before your survey. We want to have you turn it on and test all the functions, make sure the cables and the GPS seem to be functioning well. For each survey window we have a scheduled zoom session on the ‘off’ day between the windows. Hopefully by that time you will have received the kit and can log in to the session with the kit in hand. If for some reason you cannot attend the zoom session, please reach out to your coordinator to schedule a time for a video call when you will be available.
